What Will Samy Vellu Do?
2.I honestly do not know much about what is going on in MIC.All I know is that Samy Velly has recently made statements that he has been asking our Prime Minister to release the Hindraf leaders and will ask him again to do so the next time he sees the prime minister.I also read an article from Malaysiakini which made things even more interesting. The link is given below.
http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/90322
this particular passage from the article caught my interest
Some 100 coordinators and activists from Penang, Perak and Kedah attended the two-hour meeting. They appeared amused by Samy Vellu’s claim that he has asked the prime minister to consider releasing the Hindraf 5. This was followed by a similar call by the Coalition of Malaysian Indian NGOs.
“Samy Vellu reportedly called on the government to detain our leaders. Now he has suddenly emerged to champion their freedom when he has lost all his government powers," scoffed Thanenthiran.
It looks like Indians are still unhappy although Samy Vellu has already called on the goverment to release the Hindraf leaders. There is some truth to what they are saying but right now all i really want to know is what will Sammy Vellu do if the Prime Minister rejects his suggestions? If Samy Vellu has already asked the prime minister to release the Hindraf leaders,It shows that he wants them released because there is no point detaining them and he is the president of MIC,So what I am saying is what is Samy Vellu going to do?Is he going to keep quiet or is he going to stand up for MIC once and for all?
Obviously he is not happy with the Hindraf leaders still being detained until today,He is a leader of one of the three main parties in Barisan Nasional,MIC which have been heavily cricitised for not protecting the Indians enough. It is interesting that he has agreed and want to release the Hindraf leaders so now it goes down to how much is he willing to work for it.I also find it strange that he has to ask our prime minister so many times because i thought if you ask someone something, you will get the answer straight away instead of asking the person so many times.
3.It would be a good opportunity for Samy Vellu to regain the Indian's trust again. That is if he fights all the way for their rights. The way I see it,Samy only has two choices if our Prime Minister rejects him again. The first one would be that Samy Vellu just keep quiet,Act like nothing has happened and hope that everyone forgets about this issue as time goes by and yes,Show the whole of Malaysia that MIC have once again betrayed the Indians for not standing up for their rights.
Either that or Samy Vellu can give UMNO an ultimatum or do something drastic that UMNO will regret.Afterall,It is the only way for MIC to get what they want from UMNO.Samy should do something so that UMNO will listen to MIC and give in to his demands and release the Hindraf leaders who are still detained until today.
4.I still remember a statement that our prime minister made saying that ISA has no plans to arrest anyone now and if people are afraid that they will get arrest it means they have done something wrong and they know it.I find it funny because as far as i am concern the people who got arrested in ISA are mostly innocent like the Sin Chew journalist so yes there are many people who are afraid that they will get detained by the ISA not because they have done something wrong but because they are afraid that they have done something that must have made the government angry.
I think that it is unfair to send RPK to Kamunting for two years just like that,Where is the justice in this?Give RPK a FAIR trial in court so that all evidence will surface and then we can see who is right and who is wrong at that time.I believe that if the government simply arrest him and send him to Kamunting just like that,It will make alot of Malaysians angry and it won't help bring up the government's image at all.Have a fair trial for all Malaysians to see so that we can judge for ourselves to whether the punishment and the arrest of RPK is fair or not.
As for now,I want to follow the Samy Vellu case closely and will follow up with what he will do or say in the next few weeks.I hope that Samy Vellu will prove to us that MIC will maintain its pride by going against UMNO for something that they strongly believe in rather than keeping quiet and always agreeing with them like what most Malaysians know them for.
We will just have to wait and see for that.
